WeatherfordToyota drivers can be reassured that the Toyota cars, trucks and SUVs that they’re driving are safe.
The dealership has been tracking the study of the Toyota vehicles involved in the crashes and recalls last year. A report was released by Toyota on research done by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The report shows that driver error may be at fault for the Toyota crashes.
These reports are the first to become public after Congress asked the NHTSA to release their research. The study is in its fifth month after over 8.5 million Toyota vehicles were recalled.
The brakes of more than half of the vehicles examined were either not applied at the time of the crash or were applied just before impact. In an examination of 58 Toyota vehicles that were involved in sudden acceleration reports, data found on the vehicle’s “black box” shows that the brakes were not applied at the time of the crash. Nine other vehicles show that the brakes were applied in the last possible seconds before impact.
